Town of New Paltz Recreation Committee

Mission:

The New Paltz Parks and Recreation Department oversees the Community Center, Field of Dreams, and Clearwater Park.

The Recreation Committee aims to maintain and improve the recreational resources within the Town to promote the social, cultural, and physical well-being of our community.

The Recreation Committee shall do the following:

1. Identify the changing needs of the community through periodic evaluation and make recommendations.
2. Advise and make recommendations on recreational and park programming
3. Advise and make recommendations on budget and policies
4. Advise and make recommendations on Parkland Recreation Fund expenditures
5. Review recreational contracts and fee schedules annually & make recommendations
6. Assess facility rentls and fees, and make recommendations
7. Assist in the promotion of the Town's Parks and Recreation programs

Membership; terms of office; officers; meetings; quorum.

The Committee may consist of five members who shall be appointed by the Town Board.  Persons residing within the Town of New Paltz who have demonstrated significant interest in and commitment to the field of recreation, evidenced by their employment, involvement in a local recreation group, volunteer activity in the field of recreation or sports, or other serious interest in the field shall be eligible for appointment as members of the Committee.

The committee members shall have five year terms.

The Committee shall elect a Chairperson, a Vice President, and a Secretary.

The Committee shall meet at least nine times per year.

A quorum for the transaction of business shall consist of three of the Committee’s members, but not less than a majority of the full authorized membership may render a decision or recommendation.
